National Public Lands Day

Who knew?! Apparently on this day every year, amongst other things, ALL of the national parks and monuments are free. So VJ and I decided to go to Cabrillo National Monument that is located right here in San Diego (again, who knew?!).

We learned a bit about Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, who was the first European to sail the coast of California, and the Cabrillo National Monument apparently is near the spot they think he first landed in California. Good little bit o’ history! The views from the monument were BREATHTAKING and I definitely recommend you go if anything for the beautiful scenery!

One of the really fun parts of the day was when we ventured down to the tide pools and waded a bit in the water. Out of nowhere a HUGE waved splashed up against the rocks and got us drenched from head to toe, so we figured eh… might as well stay and try to get even wetter! We eventually got SOAKED and trudged back up to the car where we had to just take off our pants right there so we could drive not soggy haha. Fun times!!
